| What
is an ETA? The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is an electronically stored authority to travel to Australia for a short stay. It removes the need for a visa label or stamp in a passport. If you are granted an ETA, you will not have any evidence place in your passport. The record of your authority to travel is stored electronically on a computersystem operated by Australian Immigration. Airlines and travel agents have access to this system to confirm that you can enter Australia. It enables passengers to be processed more quickly on arrival in Australia. Who can get an ETA? You can get and enter Australia on an ETA if you meet the following conditions: -You hold a passport approved for ETA. -Your visit to Australia is for: tourism / visiting relatives / business meetings / a convention or conference. -You will not work in Australia. -You will not stay in Australia for more than three months. -You are in good health and have no criminal convictions. -You use the ETA within twelve months, or before the expiry date of your current passport. If you do not meet these requirements, please contact the nearest diplomatic office for advice on appropriate types of visa. |
