Reservation Procedure Call us on 0845 6801298 to order your Amtrak Pass. We accept most credit and debit cards. There is a 2% handling fee for credit cards but no fee for UK debit cards. We will then send your pass that same day by Royal Mail 1st Class Post. If you plan any travel during the peak period, peak pricing must be used, even if the trip commences/ends in off-peak season. Voucher Exchange Upon arrival in the United States must exchange your voucher for a USA Rail Pass at any staffed Amtrak station. You must present a valid international passport and carry this passport with you during all Amtrak travel. Reservations are required for most Amtrak trains and can be obtained at an Amtrak station or by calling 1-800- 872-7245. The Rail Pass is not a ticket. The Rail Pass must be presented in exchange for a valid Amtrak ticket.  When contacting the 1-800-872-7245 or making reservations at the station, you must identify that you are traveling on a Rail Pass. Sleeping accommodation upgrades can be purchased at the Amtrak Station. There is one charge per accommodation regardless of whether it is single or double occupancy. Rates are based on availability and season. The Rail Pass is valid for one year from the date of issue and the duration specified. It commences on the first Amtrak segment. Travel has to be completed before 11:59pm on the last day of the voucher validity (i.e. If you board a train for a journey that does not end before 11:59 on final date then they will be required to purchase a new ticket for the remainder of your journey) Unreserved service is available on the following segments: Boston to New York to Philadelphia to Baltimore to Washington Santa Barbara to Los Angeles to San Diego   Amtrak reserves the right to cancel and/or change the frequency of operation of any train service without liability. Cancellations If you cancel your voucher before it has been exchanged at an Amtrak office the cancellation fee is £100. The Amtrak Rail Pass voucher must be exchanged within 12 months of the issue date. No refund will be issued for Travel vouchers beyond this period. Once the voucher has been exchanged for a pass, the reservation is non refundable. Lost, misplaced, stolen or destryoed passes will not be replaced. Passes available 1 Nationwide 2 East Region - A line including: Wolf Point WPT/ Denver - DEN/ Albuquerque - ABQ / El Paso ELP to the Atlantic Ocean 3 West Region - A line including: Wolf Point WPT/ Denver - DEN/ Albuquerque - ABQ / El Paso ELP to the Pacific 4 Northeast Region Optional Extras (payable direct) Sleeping accommodation upgrades can be purchased at the Amtrak Station. When your trip includes a border crossing into Canada, Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada are required to provide to Customs and Immigrations officials the full legal name, date of birth, and country of citizenship of each passenger. Citizens of countries other than the United States or Canada require a passport and, in many cases, a visa, obtained prior to arrival at the border. USA Rail passes can only be purchased and used by permanent residents of countries outside the US and Canada. States not included on the Amtrak Rail network: Alaska, Hawaii, South Dakota & Wyoming. Amtrak reserves the right to cancel and/ or change the frequency of operation of any train service without liability. Rail Passes are valid for the following Amtrak Services to Canada: Adirondack: New York to Montreal and Cascades: Portland to Seattle to Vancouver. Rail Passes are available for travel on all Amtrak Trains except Auto train, certain Acela Expres & Metroliner services and certain Thruway connecting services. Luggage allowance There is a limit of 2 carry-on bags per passenger, not including items such as purses or laptops. Suitcases should not exceed the specified dimensions of a medium-sized suitcase (28"x 22"x 14"/ 70x 55x 35cm). Each piece must be visibly tagged with the name and address of the passenger.  Coach Seating The Coach car accommodates passengers with a reclining seat, fold-down tray for snacks or paperwork and an overhead reading light. There are overhead racks for baggage and well-appointed restrooms within the car. Many long-distance trains offer extra-spacious seating with leg rests to make overnight trips more comfortable. There is plenty of room to move around the compartment and chat to fellow travelers. The wide expanses of windows let you enjoy the passing scenery from a viewpoint only the train can give you - up close. Refreshments Sandwiches, snacks and beverages are available in the Cafe or Lounge car. Long distance trains offer gourmet-style meals in the Dining car.
